Robin Williams bulked up (or at least his arms did) to play the spinach-loving sailorman in director Robert Altman’s musical Popeye, which was released on this date in 1980. Based on the characters appearing E.C. Segar’s comic strip Thimble Theatre, the film also stars Shelley Duvall (Olive Oyl), Wesley Ivan Hurt (Swee’Pea), Paul L. Smith (Bluto), Paul Dooley (J.
