Independently Owned And Operated

CBR recently presented an exchange between Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Mark Millar (Kick-Ass), and Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) on creator-owned comics. Here’s Kirkman on the rush by film studios to crank out live-action comic book adaptations:

“I think it took some movie producers and Hollywood executives a small amount of time to realize that there’s a lot of actual work that goes into producing a comic, and the idea of producing a comic soullessly just to get the proof of concept out there isn’t something that's easy to do or even financially beneficial to the project as it's getting off the ground.”

Meanwhile, there’s some speculation of an upcoming legal battle involving the Marvel Comics villain Thanos, who looks to be the bad guy in the sequel to The Avengers.
